The Pragyan rover has moved almost 100 metres away from the lander. “We are going to start the process of making both of them sleep in the coming one or two days because it has to withstand the night,” said ISRO Chairman S Somanath giving an update on the Chandrayaan-3 mission to the Moon.
“Meanwhile, over the Moon, Pragyan Rover has traversed over 100 metres and continuing,” tweeted ISRO.
“The lander and the rover are still functioning. Our team with scientific instruments are doing a lot of work now,” he said from the mission control room after the successful launch of the PSLV-C55 Aditya L1 mission from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota on Saturday.
India’s Moon mission Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the lunar south pole at 6.04 pm on August 23, this making India to join an exclusive club of four and making it the first country to land on the uncharted surface.
