“We received a phone call from Baltimore police, saying the three had died by suicide. They are still investigating the reason behind the deaths. I spoke to my son and daughter-in-law last week,” said Yogesh’s mother Shobha.
Family members of Yogesh have urged Indian authorities to help them repatriate the mortal remains of the deceased. A senior police officer in Davanagere assured that all possible assistance will be provided to the family.
Yogesh had been residing in the US for the last nine years. Both he and his wife were employed as software engineers there, the family said. Yogesh’s cousin MR Santosh claimed Yogesh and Pratibha were happily married. “Though we do not know the reason why they took such an extreme step,” he added.
“We have approached the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police to bring the bodies back to India. They have assured us that they will approach the ministry of foreign affairs for help,” Santosh said.
